In Vienna, death forms a part of life: people tend to prepare in advance for their demise and the ensuing funeral. In this museum all kinds of macabre objects are on view, such as a stiletto for committing suicide, or the ‘re-usable coffin’ from the times of Joseph II. It had a hinged bottom, so that the corpse dropped into the grave and the coffin was ready for the next customer.
