Mon-Fri 9.30am-7pm, Sat 9am-5 pm
The first 'Urban Entertainment Centre' in Europe, opened in 2001. It's a
city within the city, a complex in nostalgic brick. Four gas reservoirs
are more than a century old, 70 m high and covered with glass and metal.
They present a bizarre beauty. Between the towers, a huge elegant
shopping street came into being, including the city archive, a concert
hall with more than 300 seats, a giant cinema with 16 halls and a number
of office premises and residential spaces. The centre, located in the
suburb Simmerung, got its own metro station (Gasometer), at an 8 minutes
walk from the Stephansplatz. It's situated within walking distance of
the airport (barely 15 minutes).
